Upcycled thrift store frames

Have you ever spotted a frame at the thrift store that you thought could be transformed? A few months back I found three of these wooden pictures frames. They said "the guys" at the bottom. They were brand new, so I could not pass them up. At the time I was not sure what I would do with them, but I thought I could make them into something to fit my home and decor.

I decided to decorate these for the Fourth of July. I printed out some pictures of my family over the years on the Fourth of July. Every year we attend a 4th of July festival where the Cary Town Band and the North Carolina Symphony perform. This has been a tradition over the years and we enjoy it year after year.
To begin transforming my frames, I removed all the hardware from the picture frame. I put these aside to paint gold.

I then painted one frame red, one white and one blue. I added 2 coast of paint and felt they were sufficiently covered.

I decided to paint the entire frame a solid coat of paint.
After allowing the paint to dry, I placed my pictures in the frames and added the gold painted hardware back. Next, I decided to add some wording and stars. I created this on my Silhouette Cameo 4 using a sheet of gold glitter vinyl I had. After weeding the vinyl, I added them to the frames.

I added gold glitter vinyl to the frames.
To finish the look, I a coat of gold glitter glue over the top of the frame. I liked the look of this and I also felt it would provide a top coat to make sure the vinyl stays in place. I also place a coordinating bow I made out of red, white and blue glitter ribbon I had.

How cute will these look hanging in my home for the summer?
