Magical Unicorn
Who would not love making this adorable magical unicorn? Best of all it reuses your paper towel or toilet paper roll for the body. I love to reuse items in my crafts, it cuts down on cost and waste. This craft also uses materials you may already have at home. You can also make changes to some of the items I use and pick items you may already have or that work best for you.
Encourage your child can use their imagination with this unicorn. Add it to dramatic play or take it outside to run off some energy with your unicorn. Play is such an important part of learning and development as children grow.
This craft pairs well with reading a book about unicorns. Your child can retell one of the stories below and even create other characters out of old toilet paper rolls. Have your child make up their on story about a unicorn to act out with their magical unicorn. For older children provide a blank book or several pieces of paper stapled together for them to illustrate and write their own story.

Supplies:
- Paper towel or toilet paper tube
- White acrylic paint
- Paintbrush
- White craft foam
- Pink glitter craft foam
- White duct tape
- Colorful yarn
- Black paint pen or marker
- Felt and foam tacky glue
- Clips ( I purchased mine at the Dollar Tree)
Instructions:
- Paint your tube with white acrylic paint. Allow time for the paint to dry fully.
- Cut a small piece of White duct tape and lay it sticky side up on your work surface.
- Cut yarn and add to the duct tape. I used 2 pieces of each color I selected. Then bend the duct tape and secure on the inside of the tube.
- Create a horn for the unicorn. Do this by cutting a triangle shape out of the glitter foam
- Glue the horn on with the tacky glue. I secured it with a clip until the glue dried.
- Create the ears out of white craft foam. I used a pink marker to draw the inside of the ears. After I secured them onto the tube next to the horn.
- Create a tail for your unicorn. Cut a piece of duct tape and cut it in half length wise. Then, add yarn to the duct tape. I used 2 pieces of each color yarn to create my tail. Next, roll tape up to secure the yarn.
- Use the other piece of duct tape to secure the tail to the back of the tube.
- Use a paint pen or marker to draw eyes on your unicorn.
