Unicorn reused bottle activity

Upcycled Unicorn bottle activity.

Make this adorable unicorn from a reused bottle. I used a protein shake bottle, I liked the wide opening. Best of all this craft is too easy to make, follow the simple instructions below to create this unicorn bottle. It can be used to practice counting with your child, practice fine motor skills or as decor in your child's bathroom. How cute would this look sitting on the bathroom counter storing cotton balls?

Math Practice ideas:

Place the cotton balls on the table and have your child point to each cotton ball and count in number order. Make sure they pair each cotton ball with only one number. When they are finished ask how many cotton balls were there in all? Make sure your child understands that the final number they stated when counting the cotton balls one by one is the total number of cotton balls.

What Math questions can I ask my child when counting?

  • How many cotton balls are there in all?
  • Can you put 5 cotton balls in the bottle?
  • If I add 1 more how many are there? 2 more? 10 more?
  • How many cotton balls can you fit into the bottle?
  • Give your child 5 scattered cotton balls. Ask how many are there?
  • Give them 10 scattered cotton balls. Ask How many are there?
  • Arrange 10 cotton balls into a ten frame and ask how many cotton balls are there?
