Toilet paper roll birds in a nest craft

Looking for a fun Spring or summer craft? These toilet paper roll birds have been making their rounds online. They are too cute and allow the maker to totally personalized their bird. This is a great opportunity to set up a walk in the park with your child to explore and locate birds. Let your child be inspired by real birds they see or let them recreate one of their favorite birds they encounter on the walk. You can also visit your local library and check out nonfiction books about birds.
To make your toilet paper roll bird, begin by folding one end together and staple.

Fold and staple the toilet paper roll together.
Next, fold the toilet paper roll together and then cut and shape the end of the toilet paper roll. You will round it and create a beak shape towards the middle. You may need to assist your child with this step. After, use a hot glue gun to glue the ends together.

Use the scraps of the toilet paper tube to create a beak for the birds. Completely paint the toilet paper tube white. Allow it to dry and then get to work painting your bird.

You can also create a nest for your birds. It is easy to make with a simple brown paper bag and moss or shredder paper. ( both available at the Dollar Tree) Cut the bag down and then fold the edges over and shape it into a circular shape.

Add your birds to and around the nest to finish the project. Encourage your child to create a story or the play with the nest and birds.
