The Sour Grape

The Sour Grape

This story is a great book for children, the character in the story goes through many emotions. It is great for children to see and hear how normal emotions are and can change based on circumstances and time of the day.

After reading "The Sour Grape" by Jory John you can create one or both grapes using the easy to print template. Simply print out , cut and create.

First print out the template. I printed my grape out on green paper, however you can also choose to color this as well.

Next, you will need to color the stem and leaf for the grape. You can use marker or crayon.

After, have your child cut out the pieces. The arms and legs have small details to cut, so this is a great way to practice fine motor skills. It may be helpful to model cutting out these pieces and explaining how to make the cuts slowly.

Then, you will glue the pieces onto the green grape shape. Use a marker to add details to the face. I added dots for the nose, a smile, rosy cheeks and eyebrows.

Glue the eyes onto Sour Grape template 2.

Cut and glue the eyes

Create a mouth for the grape. To create simply draw a large capital D on white paper, and cut out. Then you will draw line to create his teeth. Glue the mouth on in a frown shape on his face.

Create a mouth for the grape and glue it on.

Next, use a marker or crayon to draw cheeks on the grape's face.

Glue on the remainder of the pieces including the stem, leaf , arms and legs.

Finally, take a half of a green pipe cleaner to create the vine of the grape. Simply twist the pipe cleaner around a pencil to create the twist. Attach it near the stem and leaf. I find it easiest to use scotch tape to attach the pipe cleaner.
