Thanksgiving Rainbow Corn
Create this Thanksgiving rainbow corn to decorate for the holiday. This rainbow colored corn is also called flint corn. It was one of three types that was cultivated by Native Americans in the northern part of the US as a staple food. It is often available in the fall time and is used primarily for decoration. This corn is called flint corn because it has a low water content and a hard outside kernel. It can be ground for hominy or grits.
This is a fun activity for kids who like to color, it can take a long time to color the corn in neatly. It is fun to see how your child will color in this corn.
After coloring, your child will get great practice at cutting out the corn cobs. Don't worry if it is not cut perfectly. After, use a brown paper bag or brown paper to create the husk , or outside part of the corn. Glue these all together to create a rainbow corn decoration for your home.
To complete the look, use some raffia to create a bow to attach to your Thanksgiving rainbow corn.
