St Patrick's Rainbows

St. Patrick's is a fun time of the year that is known for rainbows, leprechauns and the color green. Learn about St. Patrick's Day and create some fun rainbows in all green for the holiday. There are many different ways to make these rainbows using a variety of materials and a simple rainbow print out.
Pointillism Green Rainbow
Make this pointillism rainbow using different shades of green paint and q tips. Pointillism is a technique of painting with small dots to form an image.
To begin, get some green paint in different shades. You will begin with one shade and go around the rainbow to fill in. After you have done one curve, switch to a different shade of green to complete the next curve. Continue this until you have completed the rainbow.

Paint chip rainbow
This rainbow craft will strength fine motor skills while kid prepare the materials needed to make this rainbow.
First, get some paint sample from your local paint store. Use a hole puncher to punch out holes out of the different shades of green.



Have your child punch out hole of green paper with a hole puncher.
Then, glue the green circles around the curves of the rainbow until the rainbow is completed.

Want to add an easy shamrock onto the rainbow. Start by drawing 4 hearts with the bottom points touching.



Draw a shamrock by drawing 4 hearts.
Add a green circle in the middle where the points met, if you have a large gap in the middle like I did. Draw a stem coming down from the middle.



Painted rainbow
Create a rainbow using different colors of green paint. First, add a shamrock as a center of the rainbow. Then, add a curve using one color of paint. After painting the curve, use a white crayon to create a design in the paint. Do this while the paint is still wet.






Create a curve with paint. Use a white crayon to add texture to the paint.
Continue adding curves. They can be made of straight lines, dashes, or dots. Let your child be creative.






Continue making curves until your rainbow is completed.
Torn paper rainbow
Gather some different shades and patterns of green papers. You can prepare these ahead of time or have your child participate in preparing the paper. Cut or tear strips of green paper into small square pieces.

Glue the green pieces of paper around the rainbow until you have filled in the entire rainbow.


Continue gluing until the entire rainbow is filled in.
