Sponge Painted Candy Corn

Sponge Painted Candy Corn

Candy corn, people either love it or hate it. No matter, this candy corn is not for eating. Candy corn does however make people think of Halloween or fall. This activity is an easy seasonal craft any child can make.

Directions:

  1. First, print out the candy corn on paper. I recommend cardstock for durability, but you can also use regular printer paper.
Print out candy corn shape on cardstock.
  1. Gather supplies. You will need a sponge. I purchased a pack of two from the Dollar Tree. I then cut a small piece of the sponge off. This piece was cut into thirds to use for each color of paint. I used a clothespin to hold each sponge piece. This is a great trick to make this painting activity less messy. You will need orange, yellow and white paint.
  1. I used a paper plate for the paint. Simply squeeze a small amount, not much is needed. Use the sponge to paint on the candy corn. Candy corn is yellow on the bottom, orange in the middle and white on the top.

When painting don't worry about the outer lines since you will be cutting out the candy corn when the paint dries.

  1. After the paint has dried completely, cut out the candy corn. This is a great way for your child to practice their fine motor skills. Don't stress if it is not cut perfectly.
  1. Finally, if your child chooses, you can decorate the candy corn. Add googly eyes or use markers to create a face. Let your child be creative with their candy corn.

How cute would these candy corn be hanging on your windows or door in your home? I love to decorate my home with crafts my children have created.
