Instructions:

  1. Print out the Shapes Leprechaun template
Shape templates for creating the leprechaun
  1. Cut out Circle face and circles for beard. Encourage your child to do the cutting, even if they are not perfect. Glue the orange circles around the face to create the beard.
  1. Cut out rectangle and square for the hat and glue onto top of the face.
  1. Cut out buckle detail for hat. I folded it in half and cut a slit in the middle. I could then get my scissors in to cut along the dotted line. Your child might need help with this step. You can guide them to complete independently.
  1. I added a strip of black paper for the belt detail on the hat. Glue it to the top of the hat and add buckle detail. When I glued it on I flipped it over to not show the dotted cutting marks.
  1. Add the green square to the bottom of the face for the body. Add the Belt and buckle detail to the bottom of the body too.
  1. Add the writing section under the body.
  1. Add details for the face. I cut out 2 eyebrows of orange and used a scrap of paper I had to create a pink nose. I glues on googly eyes and drew a mouth.
So many more shapes added in the face details.

This little leprechaun is a cutie! Great to hang to decorate for St. Patrick's Day.

Be sure to go back and count the number of shapes you used in the project.
