Shape Crow
Create this shape crow out of basic shapes. This would make a great addition to a bulletin board or fall art for a classroom. Create it at home to use as decor at home as well.
Identifying shapes
This crow shape craft activity includes rectangles, squares, and circles. As your child works to cut out the shapes don't stress if they are not cut perfect. You can however ask you child, What shape are you cutting out? How many squares are there? What are some shapes you know that are not a part of this crow? These questions can lead to more conversation about the shapes other attributes as well.
Attributes of shapes
Take this activity a step further by teaching your child about attributes of shapes. Attributes are something about a shape that makes it similar or different from another shape. Start with simple attributes like size, color and number of sides. After you can move to number of corners and if the shape is open or closed.
Supplies:
- black construction paper or cardstock
- scrap of orange or yellow paper

Directions:
- Print out the crow pieces on cardstock or construction paper. You can print on construction paper easily by trimming the paper to the same size as printer paper. - Cut out all the shapes for the crow on the black paper.
- Cut out the eyes and cut a triangle shape to create a beak for the crow.
- Begin by gluing the circle on top of the square for the head of the crow.
- Glue the smaller triangle to the side of the square to act as wings.
- Finally, glue the larger triangle to the bottom of the square.
- Lastly, glue on the eyes and beak.
