President Taft Got Stuck in the Bath
I recently came across the book "President Taft is Stuck in the Bath" by Mac Barnett. In my years teaching I had never heard of this book, so I decided to read it. Taft was known for his size and it is rumored he got stuck in the bathtub. This book takes a funny look at this rumor and explores all the ways that they tried to get him out. Kids will love this hilarious book and will laugh out loud as you read! It is a new must read for Presidents' Day
After reading, I decided to create a craft to go along with the story.
Supplies:
- President Taft Template
- skin toned paper
- brown paper
- glue stick
- markers
Instructions:
To start print out templates for this craft. If you are using construction paper you can cut it to size and place in your printer. Place in your printer and print as normal.
- Cut out face.
- Cut out and glue on hair at the top of the circle.
- Cut out and glue on eyes. Draw pupils with brown marker.
- Draw eyebrows above the eyes using a brown marker
- Cut out brown moustache and glue in the middle of the face.
- Glue nose on top of the moustache.
- Cut out and glue on ears.
- Create mouth by gluing teeth at the bottom of the mouth as shown below.
- Next, glue the mouth under the moustache.
- Finally, cut out bathtub and glue it directly under President Taft's mouth.
