This winter make this adorable polar bear pop up art project with your child. Polar bears look so cute, however they are aggressive predators. They are great at looking for and catching prey.

Here are 5 facts about polar bears:

  1. Polar bears are the biggest bear species. Males will grow twice as large as females.
  2. Most polar give birth to one to three cubs at a time. Most of the time births are twins.
  3. The skin of a polar bear is black. They have 2 layers of fur on top of their skin. Their fur layer reflects skins which makes it look white.
  4. Mother polar bears live in a den with her new babies for months. While taking care of her babies the mom does not eat.
  5. Polar bears favorite meal are seals.

Take a trip to the library to get some more books about polar bears to read with your child. After, complete this pop art polar bear art project. To begin, prepare the background paper. To start rip pieces of scrap paper into long strips. Glue the strips on a large piece of construction paper 18x24.

Next, print and cut out the pieces of the polar bear on white paper. After printing cut out all the pieces. For the head, use a black marker to add details. Add eyes, a nose and a mouth. You can also add details to the ears.

Next, glue the larger body piece on the background paper.

Glue the body to the background paper.

Now, cut 2 small strips of paper. Roll them into the circle and glue the ends together. Then, glue them onto the body of the polar bear. Place one in the center of the body and one on the foot of the polar bear.

Glue the smaller part of the polar bear on top of the rolled paper.

To make the polar bear's head "pop up" You will need to create an accordion folded piece of paper. To do this, begin by gluing two pieces of paper together.

Now, fold the bottom piece over and the top piece down. Now repeat this process until you reach the end of the paper. Then, glue the paper into place.

Now you can add the folded paper onto the body of the polar bear and then glue the head of the polar bear on the top.
