Paper Plate Owl Craft

Paper plate crafts are a favorite of mine. I love creating them with inexpensive, thin paper plates. I found a pack recently at the Dollar Tree, which is a great deal for fun crafting. This craft comes together with paint and scraps of paper making this a quick and easy craft to create with your child for a fun weekend activity.
To begin, fold a paper plate down to make the face of the owl. After, fold the two sides of the plate to make the wings of the owl.

Fold the paper plate to make the owl's body.
Next, paint the body using a shade of brown paint. You can paint one color or decide to paint it two shades of brown.

After painting, use glue to attach where you folded the plate.
Another option is to fold and glue the plate first and then paint after. This is a better option if you are painting the owl one complete color. When gluing, I prefer a hot glue gun. It is quick and easy, however always complete this task for your child. You can also use Elmer's glue, but this will take a little longer to dry.

After the paint has completely dried, use a different shade of brown to add the details of the feather on the wings of the owl. Simply use a paintbrush and make small "U" shapes next to each other.

To make the eyes of the owl, I used scrap paper I had available. I utilized the some circle paper punches I have. You can also complete this by drawing and cutting out the circles. Another option is to use bottle tops and trace them to make the circles. You will need two black circle and two yellow circles.

Then, glue the black circle onto the yellow circle. Next, use the yellow circle to create the white circle. You can utilize a paper punch or a bottle cap. You can also simply draw and cut out a circle shape you draw around the yellow circle.

Finish making the eyes by adding a white circle.
Glue the eyes onto the top of the owl's body.

Finally, make a beak and feet using orange scrap paper. Draw the feet and cut them out. Glue the beak and feet in place on your owl.

Make your own beak and feet for your owl.
