Paper Plate Bear
Make this adorable paper plate bear to go with the book "Blueberry Cake" by Sarah Dillard. This book is so familiar, who doesn't LOVE to eat blueberries in the summertime? Little bear goes out to collect blueberries so his mom can make blueberry cake. Problem is they are so tempting, he eats them all before he returns.
Get out some paints to create this bear and bucket of blueberries. I love these kinds of projects. You can stretch out the project for 2 days to help with that summertime boredom. Paint the plate and the bucket and allow plenty of time to dry before completing the project at a later time.
Supplies:
- Paper plate
- Paint
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Construction Paper
- Glue Stick
- Pipe cleaner
- Hole Puncher
- Tape
- Bucket Template
Instructions:
- Start by painting the paper plate brown and the bucket red with a silver interior.
- Once dry, cut out the red bucket.
- Next, use a hole puncher to punch a hole on both sides of the bucket. Attach the pipe cleaner to create a handle and tape on with any kind of tape. Or simply twist the pipe cleaner to create a knot to prevent it from slipping through the hole you punched.
- Punch small circles out of blue paper. I used a white marker to add a small dot to the blueberry. Glue the blueberries into the bucket.
- Use construction paper to make ears, eyes, eyebrows and a mouth for the bear. Use markers to create the details of the face.
Use these crafts to ask to your child questions about the book or have them retell using them as props.
