Owl Craft

Who doesn't love an adorable owl? Owls are nocturnal birds that are some incredible features. They are amazing hunters and make their distinct hooting sound. You and your child will love learning about the different kinds of owls. Take a trip to the library and look for both fiction and non fiction books about owls.
Check out the non fiction book "Owls" by Gail Gibbons. This book is full of facts about owls. I love the fun illustrations and the different sections that allow your child to read about what interests them. Although non fiction can be intimating and more challenging to read, it is easy to only read a portion of the book.

"The Curious Little Owl" by Penny Bloom is a great bedtime story that your child will love. Read about a little owl named Ollie. You will love Ollie and his friends as they go on a magical adventure. This is a super book for encouraging your child to imagine and create stories.

After learning about owls create a owl easily from printed templates. You can let you child choose colors for their owl and features. Allow them the freedom to use their imagination in making their owl or they can make a realistic looking owl.
To begin, print the templates for the owl on the paper colors of your child's choice.

Print the owl's in any color your child chooses.
After printing, cut the pieces out. The lines of the outlines are thick to make cutting easier for cutting.

Cut out all the pieces you need.
To begin glue the circles together, one on top of the other in size order. You can position the eye pupils in any direction you choose.

Glue the circles to create the eyes.
Next, glue the eyes on the top part of the owl's body.

Glue the eyes onto the body.
Now you will glue the beak in the middle of the owl's body.

Now you can glue and add the wings onto the owl's body. Let your child move the wings into different positions to see where they would like to glue them.

Last glue the talons at the bottom of the body of the owl.

There are so many color options you can use for the owl's body.

Finally, use can use a marker to add details to the owl's body. Draw the letter "u" to create the look of feathers on the body.

Add feathers with a marker or crayon.
