One Leaf, Two Leaves Count With Me Activity (Fall Math for Kids)
This One Leaf, Two Leaves Count With Me activity is a fun and hands-on fall math activity for kids. Using simple leaf visuals, children practice counting, number recognition, and one-to-one correspondence while enjoying a seasonal theme they love.
This activity is perfect for preschool, kindergarten, and early elementary classrooms, as well as homeschool learning during the fall months.
It uses a book from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Have you heard of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program? The program provides free books to children from birth to age five no matter the family's income. I LOVE this! Reading is so important as children are developing and learning reading skills.
I have come across many of these books in local thrift stores. In fact, I found 10 in one trip alone! I started thinking how great it would be to create activities to go along with these books. I hope this can reach many families since the program benefits so many. If you don't receive the books, be on the look out! Or you can order the book "One Leaf, Two Leaves, Count with me!" by John Micklos Jr.

"One Leaf, Two Leaves, Count with Me!" is an adorable book that show how the leaves change over the seasons. This book combines beautiful colors with counting to 10. These foundational skills are important to introduce and review with your young child.
As you read aloud this book, you can let your child interact with the tree and leaves. To make this tree and leaves, you simply need to print out the tree and leaves. Laminate the pieces to help them last longer. You can even add velcro to the leaves and to 10 places on the tree.

In the book, more leaves grow as the spring and summer seasons come. Then, the days grow cool and the leaves begin to change colors. Have you child replace the green leaves with red, yellow and orange leaves. You can talk about subtraction and addition with your child as they replace the leaves.
