Ladybug Handprint
This summer create this adorable handprint ladybug craft using just a few supplies. Ladybugs are just so cute and fun to make. This is another craft involving a handprint, which I love as a great keepsake. Decorate this ladybug using items you have or get creative and make it your own.
If your child loves this ladybug, here are a list of 5 fiction books about ladybugs. They can retell a story with their ladybug craft or extend a story and act out the new ending with their ladybug. Supplies:
- Red and Black Craft foam
- Black sequin
- Rhinestones
- Googly Eyes
- Black Pipe Cleaner
- White Paint pen
- Felt and Foam Tacky Glue
Instructions:
- Trace you child's hand on red craft foam. Have your child cut out if they are able.
- Cut out a small piece of black foam. Use the palm of handprint and trace it on the black craft foam. After, cut out the black piece to create the top piece. This is where you will add the googly eyes and smile later.
- Glue the black craft foam to the palm of handprint. Be sure to flip the handprint so you do not see your pencil marks.
- Trace and cut out black craft foam to create the dots for the ladybug. Be sure they are larger than the rhinestones. Glue them on the remaining red part of the handprint.
- Glue the googly eyes on the black craft foam.
- Glue rhinestones on top of the black dots. You can also glue on black sequin to the rest of the ladybug.
- Cut a black pipe cleaner in fourths. You only need 1/4 to create each antennae. Wrap each pipe cleaners around a pencil to create the twist. I then lifted the black foam and glue the pipe cleaners underneath and replaced the black foam. Be sure to hold firmly in place to make sure the pipe cleaners are attached.
- Finally, use the white paint pen to draw a smile underneath the googly eyes.
