Halloween Sensory Potion

Halloween Sensory Potion

Create a spooky Halloween potion sensory bag. This sensory bag is perfect for explore senses and imagination. Sensory bags allow your child to feel and see all the movement in the bag. Encourage your child to explore their imagination by telling a story about who might be using the potion.

These skills are important pre reading skills and will help your reader increase their comprehension and writing skills. Play is so important in early childhood. However, don't forget to interact with your child. Guide their learning with questions.

To begin to make this potion, printout the FREE TEMPLATE for the potion bottle. I chose to make purple potion, so I printed a purple for my background color. You can ask your child what colors they would like. These can be printed on any color. I recommend printing on cardstock which is a thicker paper, this will provide stability for the sensory soap and items when you add then to the bag.

Gather the other supplies you will need. I used a clear dish soap, food coloring, googly eyes, and some spider confetti I purchased at Michaels. You can also use a clear hair gel or shampoo for the sensory bag or save a step and purchase shampoo or hair gel in the color you want your potion to be. You can purchase shampoo and hair gel for a low price from the Dollar Tree.

Next, add the clear soap to a Ziploc bag and add food coloring of your choice.

Now add anything you want to the bag. You can add googly eyes, glitter, sequin, the choices are unlimited. Be careful not to add too much to the bag.

Next, take your Ziploc bag and attach it the back piece of paper. This should match the color of the soap or gel you have added to the bag. This way when your child squishes it around you will still see color. You can attach the bag with a stapler or packing tape. If you use a stapler, only staple above the seal to attach. Make sure the potion overlaps the portion of the print out that will have the potion.

Next, add another copy of the potion bottle. This can be any color you would like it to be. Cut out the middle part of the bottle that show the liquid in the bottle. Staple or tape the paper on top of the bottom piece of paper to create the Halloween Potion bottle.
