Father's Day Grill
This is the perfect craft to make for Father's Day. Any dad will love this cute grill with their child's handprints as the flame. This is a quick activity that any child can easily complete for a great gift. Add an amazing Father's Day book and you are ready for Father's Day.
I created this craft using simples shapes, a circle and a rectangle. Incorporate some learning in as you complete this project. Ask your child to identify the shapes used. You can also ask them the attributes of each shape. How many sides does a rectangle have? Does a circle roll? Does it stack? Are the lines of the shape straight or curved? What color is the shape?
Supplies:
- Cardstock or construction paper for background
- Orange, red and yellow paint
- Black marker
- Scissors
- Father's Day Grill Template
Instructions:
- Use paint and foam brush to paint you child's hand. I first applied red, then orange and then yellow. Press their hand into the center of the paper two times to create the grill flames.
- Print the grill template on gray or black paper. Cut out the template. Have your child cut out the shapes if they are able to. It is great fine motor skills practice and honestly it makes the project unique to your child. Don't worry if it is not perfect.
- Cut the circle in half to make the bottom of the grill and glue it underneath the flames.
- Use the rectangles to create the legs for the grill. I only used 1 rectangle cut in half. I had to adjust due to the amount of space I had under the grill.
- Add the other half of the circle at an angle near the flames. This will create the lid for the grill.
- Use a marker to write Happy Father's day or a saying at top of the paper. Alternatively you could print the words provided in the template. Don't forget to have your child sign their name at the bottom.
