DYI Alcohol Inks
Make your own alcohol inks at home with this easy DIY method. Alcohol inks are great for paper crafting with kids. It is a great alternative to paint because they can be applied and create a unique design. They are also great because the alcohol dries quickly, allowing you to move on to the next step in a multi step project.
How to make your own alcohol inks:
- To make your own alcohol inks you will need isopropyl alcohol, markers, pliers and a glass bottle or jar. I like to make use of old markers that don't have much life left. You will be amazed at how much ink is still left in them. You can use more than one ink cartridge if you are wanting a stronger color.
- Fill your glass with isopropyl alcohol, leave some space for the ink cartridge.
- Next, use pliers to remove the bottom of the marker. Remove the ink cartridge from the marker.
- Place the ink cartridge into the glass with the isopropyl alcohol. Top off with more isopropyl alcohol.
- Allow it to sit overnight to let the ink leach into the alcohol. Add more of the same color if you want a deeper color.
- These are now ready to use. Remove the ink cartridge if you want. These can stain, so be sure to protect the surface you are using.
