Dollar Tree Patriotic Stars

After the fifty days of Easter are over, I begin to decorate my home for the summer. I fill my space inside in outside with summer fruits like, watermelon, lemons and strawberries. I also use Patriotic American decor. I created these red, white and blue patterned stars I purchase from the Dollar Tree.

To begin, I painted each star set, one red, one white and one blue. I painted the edges, which are the part that will be showing after applying the paper.

After allowing the paint to dry, I then picked out three patterned papers I wanted to use. I picked red, white and blue patterned scrapbook paper. I turned the paper over and traced each star on the back of the paper.

Trace the stars on a piece of scrapbook paper.
After tracing the star, cut out the paper. You will then glue the paper onto the stars using modge podge. I used a paintbrush to apply the modge podge to the wooden stars.

After applying the scrapbook paper to the wooden stars, I then arranged the stars on top of one another. For each set I had one red, one white and one blue star. After arranging, I used hot glue to attach each star on top of the other.

Once completed I had 3 different stars in patriotic colors.

I decided to hang mine outside on the siding of my house. I use these vinyl siding hooks from Amazon. These are so easy to use, move and hang items in my screened porch. They are under my screened porch, so I didn't add any outdoor protection. To hang these up I attached a hanger on the back of each star set. These hangers attach to the item with a peel and stick adhesive. You then can hang anything on a wall. I have used these to attach a hanger to many items that do not have a hanger on them.
