DIY Pretend Lofthouse Sugar Cookies: A Fun, Safe, and Creative Craft Activity

If you're looking for a fun and easy craft to do with the kids that will keep them entertained for hours, making pretend Lofthouse sugar cookies for imaginative play or to add to their play kitchen is the perfect choice! These pretend cookies are simple to create, safe for little hands, and allow for tons of creativity. Best of all, they require no baking! Let’s dive into this hands-on, sensory-friendly activity that will have your kiddos pretending to bake and decorate their own sweet treats.

To begin, you will need round wooden circles. I purchased mine at Michaels and they were the perfect size, 3.75 inches. I purchased 6 of these, which were a perfect fit for a cookie tray.

Next, prepare puffy paint. You will use equal parts of white glue and shaving cream. Add these to a container and mix; I mixed using a popsicle stick.

Then add some red paint to create the color for the "icing" of the sugar cookies.

Next, you will use the popsicle stick to spread some of the puffy paint onto the wooden circle. Immediately after, add decorative items for sprinkles.

To decorate my cookies, I added some tube confetti I had purchased from the Dollar Tree. I also added some small fabric hearts I had, I believe these were also purchased from the Dollar Tree years ago. Sprinkle on and push in slightly to help them adhere to the puffy paint. Allow the cookies to dry overnight.

I then mixed some more puffy paint, this time I mixed in less red to create a pink shade. I then "iced" the other 3 wooded circles and decorated them in the same way I had decorated the previous cookies.
