DIY Dog Valentine
Create this Dog Valentine with your little one.

Valentine's is a fun time to let those in your life know how you feel about them. Create this cute dog valentine with your child. Allow them to make it for grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle or friend. This is so easy to complete by printing out on construction paper.

To begin print out the template onto construction paper. Did you know you can print on construction paper? It is so easy, simply cut your construction paper to size. I simply place a piece of printer paper on top of my construction paper and trim off the excess. Then, place the construction paper in your printer as your normally would.

Print out the pieces on construction paper. You can also print on white and color.

Have your child cut out the pieces. There is a thick black border to allow for mistakes in the cutting. Cutting can be a tricky skill for children, but it is so important to help children develop fine motor skills and muscles in their hands. Allow your child to cut on their own, the project will look so much better if made by your child.

Next, glue the light brown piece to the bottom of the dark brown oval. This will make the dog's face. To create the nose, I colored in the dark brown circle with a black marker. Then, glue it to the bottom of the light brown part of the face.

Color in the brown circle to create the dog's nose.

Have your child glue the two white circles on as eyes. Draw a black circle in the middle with a black marker or crayon. Your child will then glue the small light brown ovals to the side of the dog's head.

Glue the ears to the back of the dog's head.

Next, use the excess dark brown paper you have from your scraps. Cut a long rectangle to use as the dog's body. Have your child fold the rectangle into an accordion fold.

Place the dog's head onto a piece of colored paper of your choice. Then add the body. To create the rear of the dog, glue the brown circle to the back of the body. After, attach the brown rectangle and smallest brown circle to create the dog's tail.

To make the dog's legs, simply cut four pieces of brown paper into equal pieces. Glue two rectangles in the front and two in the rear to make the dog's legs.

To finish your valentine, draw some hearts around the background. Cut and glue the note to the paper.
