Day of the Dead Skeleton

Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday, Day of the Dead or Dia de los muertos. This holiday is a joyful celebration where loved one celebrate the lives of their deceased relatives. Many people celebrate with sugar painted skull cookies or by painting their face with a joyful skull. Let your child create their very own skeleton by cutting out simple shapes to put it together. Then decorate it with beautiful, bright colors to make a Day of the Dead skeleton.
First begin by creating a easy skeleton, check out my post for step by step directions. This is an easy craft that involves cutting out simple shapes and creating a body. For the skull, simply print out the provided template.

First create a shape skeleton.

After your child has created the skeleton, you can then decorate it. Use brightly colored markers. The skeletons are meant to be a joyful way to celebrate relatives who have passed and can be decorated in any way your child chooses.
By adding ovals, lines and dots around the eyes you can make a flower like design to the face.

Add flowers around the face.
Add to the design by adding dots, squiggly lines, hearts and zig zag lines.

Use a variety of colors to add details to the entire skeleton.
