Cute Owl Craft

Owls are very interesting birds, and to be honest I think are totally adorable. This character, Lacey Walker, it an extra adorable owl. After reading the book "Lacey Walker, Nonstop Talker" I had to recreate the main character. I think she turned out amazing and your child will love making this owl from the book.
In the book, Lacey Walker loves to talk, but often misses out on listening to others. This book contains a great message about when it is okay to talk and when it is best to listen. This is an important social skill to teach children.

This owl craft was fun to create. to begin, simply print out the templates on colored paper. Allow your child to cut out the pieces. The lines of the cut outs ore thick to allow for mistakes. Cutting is an important fine motor skill that will help writing skills and hand and wrist strength.

Print and cut out the pieces to create the owl.
Next, to make the body, glue the lighter brown eye pieces to the darker brown body. After, create the eyes by gluing the circles on top on each other in size order. Glue the eyes onto the light brown eye pieces.

Glue to eyes to the body.
Next, using a black marker or crayon draw on eyebrows and eyelashes to each eye. Glue the pink bow up on top of the head. You will then cut a scrap piece of orange paper into a diamond shape. Then, fold it in half to create the beak. Glue the bottom half of the diamond down to attach the beak to the body.

Next, use a black marker to add feather details to the body of the owl.

Add lines and dashes as feather details on the upper body and ears.
Next, glue on the shirt. I printed mine on colorful scrapbook paper. You can also have your child create their own design or print on any color paper you choose. You can also add details to the shirt with markers. I added a color and buttons down the middle. Be creative and make the owl your own style.

Next, add the wings and tail to the owl's body. Add the legs at the bottom on the body. After gluing these pieces on, use a marker to add the feather details on the wings, tail and bottom part of the body.
