Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom Name
"Chicka, Chicka, Boom Boom" by Bill Martin Jr. is a classic story about all the letters of the alphabet racing up the coconut tree. This book is always a favorite of children. Let you child practice spelling their name by creating this coconut tree complete with the letters that make up their name. Will all the letters make it up the tree?
Supplies:
- brown paper lunch bag
- White sheet of paper
- glue
- Felt or foam letters of your child's name
- Scissors
- Leaf cut out template. Printed in 2 shades of green cardstock or construction paper.
- Strip of green paper
Directions:
- Cut out 4 leaves for the tree. You can chose to print out in 2 different shades of green if you would like.
- Using the brown paper lunch bag, cut out the shape of a tree trunk. Glue the tree trunk in the middle of the white paper.
- Cut the strip of green paper along the edge to create grass. Glue this paper at the bottom of the paper on top of the tree trunk.
- Next, glue the green leaves at the top of the coconut tree.
- Use the remaining pieces of the brown paper bag to cut out several coconuts for the top of the tree. Glue them at the top of the tree.
- Last, glue the letters in your name going up the tree. Say each letter as you glue them onto the tree. Repeat to practice spelling your name.
