Arnie the Doughnut

You will fall in love with Arnie, this cute little doughnut in "Arnie the Doughnut," by Laurie Keller Arnie the Doughnut is waiting at the bakery to go home. He waits as he says goodbye to all the other doughnuts. Soon, Arnie gets his turn and heads home. But, oh no, Arnie soon finds out all doughnuts get eaten! Now he is on a mission to save himself and all the other doughnuts. Read this fun book to find out what happen. After you can create this adorable doughnut.

Supplies:

  1. Construction paper or cardstock ( white, and 2 different shades of brown)
  2. Red paint
  3. Paintbrush
  4. Scraps of various colors of paper
  5. Gluestick
  6. Scissors
  7. Markers
  8. Arnie the Doughnut template

Directions:

  1. Print out the pieces of the template on corresponding paper colors. You can use construction paper or cardstock.
Use any colorful scraps of paper you have to create Arnie's sprinkles
  1. Choose a piece of paper for the backgound. Cut out the arms, legs and the light brown doughnut. and glue to the background paper.
Be sure to cut out the center of the doughnut. Your child may need help with this part.
  1. Cut out the dark brown piece of paper. Then, glue it on top of the doughnut.
  1. Get some red paint and paint the icing red. Once the paint had dried, add small rectangles of paper as the sprinkles.
  1. Next, glue on the white circles at the top for Arnie's eyes. Use a marker to add the pupils and eyebrows.
