Apple Trouble
You will love this fun story about a hedgehog who gets into some trouble as she gets an apple stuck to her back. In "Apple Trouble" by Ragnhild Scamell, Hedgehog asks her friends for help, but this just leads to more items sticking to her. Read to find out if any of her friends can help get her out of trouble.
After reading, create the hedgehog with all the items stuck to her. This activity is a great way to practice retelling the story after reading. This activity will also practice reading, cutting and coloring skills. These are all important skills for young learners.
Print out the provided sheets. You can print the hedgehog onto brown paper or you can have your child color it in.
Color and cut out the items that stick to the hedgehog. Read the names of each item and ask your child to repeat.
Ask your child, "Which item sticks to hedgehog first?" After, have them glue the item on. Use the book to help if they forget which items gets stuck next. Continue questioning, each time stopping and gluing to the hedgehog.
Alternatively, you can cut out around each item, allowing all items to fit on hedgehog's back.
