Apple Pointillism Art

Apple Pointillism Art
create this half an apple using paint and a Q- tip

Pointillism is way to painting by adding dots of color to a piece of art. Together these dots create an image. Your child can be an artist by using this painting technique to create these summer watermelons. Change the painting tool and paint color to change the color of the paint you are using to allow your child to make their apple the way they want. What I love most about this is it uses simple supplies so, your child can create multiple if they want!

Supplies:

  1. Paper plate
  2. Green, red, or yellow paint- for apple skin
  3. Ivory paint -for apple flesh
  4. Black paint- for apple seeds
  5. Painting tools ( sponge dotter brush, Q-tips or pencil eraser)
  6. Scrap brown and green paper.

Directions:

  1. Prepare paint colors your child would like to use and provide a paint tool. You can even provide all three and let them choose.
  2. Cut a large paper plate in half. I prefer thin, inexpensive plates for crafting.
  1. Add paint to create a half an apple. I began by using an ivory color paint to create the apple flesh
Use an ivory or shade of white to create the apple flesh
  1. After, use a color to create the outside skin of the apple. Your child can choose a shade of red, yellow or green. You may even want to have a real apple nearby to try to copy the same shade. Experiment with combining colors or using more than one color.
  1. Next, use a scrap piece of brown paper to create an apple stem. A green piece of paper will be used to make an apple leaf.
  1. Use black paint to add a few seeds to the inside of the apple.
A few black dots will be the seeds of the apple.
  1. Lastly, glue the stem and leaf onto the top of the half apple.
A scrap of brown paper and green paper are used to make the stem and leaf.
