How to Make the American Eagle Craft

Follow these simple steps to create your patriotic eagle craft:

Step 1: Print the Template

Print out the pieces of the eagle template on colored cardstock or construction paper.

Step 2: Cut out the Templates

Cut out the pieces of the eagle template. The lines are thick to allow for practice cutting for younger children. Cutting with scissors is a great fine motor skill.

Step 3: Glue the Head to the Body

Use a glue stick to glue the head of the eagle on top of the body.

Step 4: Glue the Wings

Add the wings onto the side of the eagle's body.

Step 5: Glue the Tail Feathers

Glue the tail feathers to the bottom of the eagle's body.

Add the tail feathers to the eagle.

Step 6: Add the Feet

Glue the feet to the bottom of the eagle's body. You can take this as a time to teach your child about the talons of an eagle. Your child might love to see a video of an eagle catching a fish. They might also enjoy reading a nonfiction book with pictures and information about eagles.

Step 8: Add the beak

Add the beak to the eagle's face. Be sure to save room above to add the eyes.

Step 9: Add Eyes

Using a marker or crayon add eyes to the eagle. Another option is to glue on googly eyes.

Step 10: Create a Sign

There are 3 different signs for Patriotic holidays. Select Fourth of July, Memorial Day or Veteran's Day. After cutting out the sign, glue it to a piece of red or blue paper to create the sign.

Step 11: Add the sign to the Eagle

Attach the sign to the eagle. You can add to the middle or even on a wing!
