  1. “Fabio The World’s Greatest Flamingo Detective” by Laura James:  These are a great series of chapter books for young readers ages 6-8. The 3 set series of books are about Fabio the detective and his associate Gilbert the Giraffe.

  1. “Flamingo BINGO” by Heidi E.Y. Stemple:  Birds have gathered to play Bingo in this fun book for beginning readers.  Full of high frequency words and easy to read words, your new reader will love this silly tale.
Funny book your new reader will feel confident reading.

  1. “Mingo the Flamingo” by Pete Oslwald: When heading South, Mingo the Flamingo gets lost and ends up on a farm, in the middle of winter! Even worse is he doesn't remember who he is. The animals on the farm are so nice and helpful in helping Mingo recover and remember he is a flamingo. Read to find out the surprising ending to Mingo's adventure.
I love this book and how all the animals on the farm help Mingo the Flamingo.

See how these two unlikely friends, Flora and her graceful flamingo, learn how to dance in perfect harmony with each other. This is a great book for allowing your child to make up their own story as they read along.
Such a great wordless book. I love the addition of the lift up flaps.
  1. “I’m Sad” by Michael Ian Black: This is a great book for explaining the emotion of sadness as, Flamingo discusses feeling sad with his friends. Your child will read about how everyone can feel sad and ways to deal with sadness in this book about the most unusual of friends discussing feelings.

This book will encourage children to not worry about what others say. In the end, Flamingo shows perseverance and proves her friend wrong.

I mean I just love the cover of this book and it has a great message.


8. “Fussy Flamingo” by Shelly Vaughn James: The fussy flamingo baby doesn't want to eat the food flamingos eat. So, baby goes out to visit other animals to find delicious food. However, the fussy flamingo doesn't enjoy any other foods. Will the fussy flamingo find a food to eat?

This is a book that had my boys LOL!
